About Helin

Helin is a London-based contemporary abstract artist whose practice explores perception, memory and the ways personal experience shapes our understanding of place.

Working intuitively with fluid colour washes, layered organic marks and expressive linework, Helin creates abstract compositions that exist between the recognisable and the imagined. Her paintings explore the emotional and sensory impressions that remain within us translating experiences of environments into shifting forms, colour and movement.

Through abstraction she creates spaces that can be interpreted differently by each viewer allowing personal memories and associations to become part of the work.

With a background in architecture Helin brings an awareness of space, structure and composition to her practice. This intersects with an intuitive and experimental approach to mark making, creating a tension between the constructed and the organic.
